An Ultrasound of Hope

A few weeks ago I received a call from a client who was looking for an abortion. I told her we did not do abortions, but that we could offer her an ultrasound which would be important for her decision-making process. She agreed and scheduled to come in the next week. She came in believing that she was 7w2d and had already agreed with her bf that abortion was the route they wanted to go. She said that this just wasn’t the best time for them to have a baby.

I discussed the mental and physical toll an abortion would have on her and she was a little tearful once she really thought about it. I reminded her that I was there to support her and give her the information she needed to make an informed decision. We agreed to do the ultrasound and then discuss more based on what the ultrasound showed.

Upon placing the transducer on her abdomen, it was obvious that this was a much larger baby than she expected. She burst out into tears, but the tears appeared to possibly be happy tears. She was amazed and after measuring it was determined that she was not 7w2d but she was 23w2d!

After seeing this, she decided she would parent. I offered for her to come back with her boyfriend for him to see the baby if she would like. She was interested and said she would let us know. I offered to pray with her which she was very appreciative of. We cried together and she hugged me and our volunteer Julia. She said she had looked up several places to seek an abortion but felt drawn to Amnion.

I’m so amazed at how the Lord hid and protected this baby, and then brought her to us at Amnion to love and support her. Please pray for her and her family! Thank you all again for your generous support of Amnion. Your support is what makes these interactions that support life possible.
